Vital Care Compounder's professional staff has over 100 years of combined experience in the industry. We are highly trained to prepare at our facility many types of compounded medications from medicated lollipops to sterile dosage forms.
Locally owned and operated by licensed Pharmacists, we have a long history in the Hattiesburg area having operated three retail pharmacies prior to establishing this compounding-only pharmacy. Our normal operating hours are 8:30 AM until 5:30 PM Monday through Friday; however, we are on call 24/7 for emergencies.

Ron Edwards, Pharm.D., R.Ph. is co-owner and pharmacist in charge at Vital Care Compounder pharmacy. Ron was born and raised in Mississippi and graduated from the University Of Mississippi School Of Pharmacy in 1997. Following a rewarding start to his career in chain and independent pharmacy, Ron joined Vital Care Compounder as a staff pharmacist in 2011 and expanded that role to co-owner over the next few years.
Since joining the staff of Vital Care Compounder, Ron has expanded our pharmacy consultation department, added a number of patient services, tackled our home infusion business, expanded our over-the-counter supplements and added additional staff. Vital Care Compounder has flourished under his leadership. Ron is a member of International Association of Compounding Pharmacists, Mississippi Pharmacists Association and Sunrise Rotary. He and his family reside in the Hattiesburg Area and are active in the community.
Jimmy Rodgers, R.Ph., senior pharmacist at Vital Care Compounder pharmacy has been practicing the art of compounding for more than 30 years. Jimmy graduated from Samford University College of Pharmacy in Birmingham, AL in 1966. Following graduation, Jimmy worked in independent retail pharmacy for several area businesses, gaining a reputation as an honest, professional and knowledgeable member of the local health care team.
Jimmy has been involved with many pharmacy organizations, including Jones County Junior College, serving as the pharmacist board member for the pharmacy technician program, International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists and Professional Compounding Centers of America. In December 2011, Jimmy was chosen as pharmacist of the month by Professional Compounding Centers of America. In addition to being actively involved in the compounding pharmacy world, he is an avid golfer and involved member of Main Street Baptist Church.
Jimmy works closely with physicians and patients alike to provide solutions for many issues. His expertise in customizing medications has been developing throughout his exemplary career and he is the local “go to” for everything pharmacy related.
Part of Jimmy’s role is to supervise the technicians during their daily compounding workload and assist in formula development. Following Jimmy’s lead, our technicians are among the best and most efficient in the industry.
Ginger Perry, R.Ph. is a staff pharmacist with Vital Care Compounder pharmacy. She was born and raised in Winona, MS and attended Winona High School where she graduated as Valedictorian of her class. She graduated from University of Mississippi in 1991 with a Biology degree and taught school for 3 years before deciding to pursue her degree in pharmacy. While at Ole Miss School of Pharmacy, she served as class secretary and was admitted to the Pharmacy Hall of Fame. Ginger received her BS in pharmacy in 1997 and began working for a chain before gaining experience in both hospital and independent pharmacy settings as well. She worked her way to Vital Care Compounder in 2014 where she has taken on the role of women’s health and skin care specialist. Ginger wants her patients to know that she truly cares about their overall health and she does the very best she can to help them improve the quantity and quality of their lives. She has heard numerous success stories since joining Vital Care Compounder, but her favorite stories always involve having her patients tell her how the care plan she helped them develop made a huge difference in their lives and that they feel alive again.
Ginger and her family are active members of Petal Harvey Baptist Church where she sings in the choir. In her off time, Ginger enjoys spending time with her husband, Robert, their son, Robert Jr. and daughter, Erin.
Missy James, CPhT has been with Vital Care since its inception in 1998. Prior to that Missy worked with the owners at their three independent retail pharmacies for 14 years where she assumed the role of lead technician and credentialing specialist while pursuing her secondary education. Missy was born and raised in the Hattiesburg area and now lives in Petal with her husband, Jason and their fur babies, Penny and Sawyer. She attended Jones County Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi where she studied chemistry, mathematics and communications. She received her pharmacy certification from PTCB in 1995.
As Aseptic Compounding Lab Manager, Missy oversees quality control and QA measures, assuring that USP standards are met. She performs sterile compounding and maintains an overall sterility program for product integrity. Over her 30 + year pharmacy career, she has been a part of every aspect of the pharmacy industry and provides training and formulation assistance when needed. She has attended a number of training programs in sterile applications as well as compliance, compounding and billing.
Additionally, Missy serves as Vital Care Compounder’s Director of Operations.
Jessica Crane, CPhT has been with Vital Care Compounder since January 2009. Jessica was born and raised in Jones County, MS and attended Jones County Junior College where she received an associate’s degree in pharmacy technology in 2007.
Jessica’s role at Vital Care is multi-faceted. Initially, she compounded creams and suspensions exclusively but is now trained to make every non-sterile dosage form and serves as training tech for all new hires. Additionally, Jessica manages accounts receivables, processing payments and generating statements monthly. Throughout her career with Vital Care Compounder, she has always returned to her first love in retail which is customer interaction. She enjoys building relationships with customers and hearing their success stories. Her favorite quote comes from satisfied customers who say, “Vital Care has changed/saved my life.” Jessica lives in Jones County with her fiancé, Brian and their furry children, Ollie, McKenzie and Diesel.
Ashley Barlow, CPhT began working with Vital Care Compounder following graduation from the Pharmacy Technician Program at Jones County Junior College in 2012. She received her associate’s degree in pharmacy technology upon graduation and obtained her certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Ashley is a lifelong resident of Jones County, MS and is raising her family in her hometown. She is a member of Soso First Baptist Church and is actively involved in church functions.
Ashley’s talent lies in compounding topical hormone creams, however she does work in other areas of the pharmacy when needed. She has recently received sterile certification through Professional Compounding Centers of America and assists with stat orders for sterile preparations. She is also responsible for monthly and quarterly surface sampling, required personnel testing and the media fill testing schedule in the sterile lab. Her other duties include repackaging sterile medications and equipment maintenance in the clean room suite.
In her personal time, Ashley likes to spend time with her son, Hunter and daughter, Bryleigh.
Patrick Waller, CPhT was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and raised in Washington state and right here in Mississippi. He attended the University Of Mississippi and UEI Encino in California. Patrick worked in a compounding pharmacy in California before moving back to Mississippi and landing at Vital Care Compounder.
Prior to pursuing pharmacy as a career, Patrick worked in Amateur Satirical Journalism, Radio and Television and several feature films. He has been with us for 10 months and specializes in making capsules and order receiving.
Patrick also assists in other areas of the compounding pharmacy when needed and enters and fills prescriptions, makes deliveries, and does heavy lifting for our all female tech staff. Patrick is also instrumental in maintaining compliance by logging daily activities such as scale maintenance, autoclave and dry heat sterilizer cycles, and temperature monitoring in the sterile suite. Patrick has received additional training in depyrogenation and sterilization of vials and closures.
Patrick’s favorite aspect of compounding is that he gets to manipulate chemicals and make medications for people who are in need.
Ashley Rawls is currently in transition to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician. She was born in Hattiesburg and was raised and lives in Sumrall. She attended Jones County Junior College.
Ashley has worked in the compounding pharmacy arena for over a year, but has been with Vital Care for just over 2 months. Her primary responsibility at Vital Care is making capsules. However, she does help on the front end and in customer service when needed. Ashley is a proud mom to one year old Lucas.
Danielle Nicholson was raised in Bassfield, MS and attended Bassfield High School until graduation in 2005. She has been with Vital Care Compounder for 7 months. Her responsibilities include customer service duties, clerical duties, and special projects such as store promotions, phone orders and online store order fulfillment. Additionally, Danielle is training to inventory, order and maintain a full line of supplements. The knowledge that Danielle has gained from dealing with supplements and their use enable her to offer educated advice and expert customer service to her customers.
Danielle is the proud mom of 3 children and currently lives with them and her husband in Seminary, MS. She is an active member of Cold Springs Baptist Church. In her time away from Vital Care Compounder, Danielle enjoys reading, painting, crafting and playing with her children.
Kanoye Leggett was born and raised in Collins, MS where he attended Collins High School. He is a student at the University of Southern Mississippi, majoring in biology. He is a lifelong member of Mount Olive Community Church in Mount Olive, MS.
Kanoye is a second generation compounding pharmacy employee, coming to us part time on the recommendation of his technician father over a year and a half ago. He makes deliveries, services customers, checks in and disperses stock and packages and mails prescriptions to our out of town customers.
He is a flexible employee, eager to complete any task asked of him. He plans to continue his education after graduation, pursuing a medical degree.
Chuck Carter is responsible for marketing our services, customized medications and problem solving skills to local physicians and their staff. Chuck began his career in pharmaceutical sales in 1981 with Lederle Laboratories promoting IV and oral antibiotics, anti-depressants and children’s immunizations. As the company evolved, he promoted many other commercial products, winning 8 national sales awards over his 30 year career with the company.
Having known Chuck for the majority of his career in sales and marketing, we were eager to add him to our team when he approached us upon his retirement in 2010 offering his skills and contacts to help get the word out about Vital Care Compounder. Chuck has helped Vital Care Compounder expand our marketing efforts, which before were dependent on one of our pharmacists making cold calls. He has helped to increase our sales volume, has created a portfolio of brochures and prescription blanks and has promoted the company at various seminars and health fairs. Chuck Carter refers to himself as the “Sales Department” in jest, but he truly is a sales force to be reckoned with.
Michelle Edwards is the wife of Ron Edwards, Mom to Carter and Peyton and Chelle to her stepson, Brooks. She is a licensed registered X-ray technician and worked for many years in her specialty until becoming a stay-at-home mom.
Michelle agreed to add bookkeeping for Vital Care Compounder to her already busy mom schedule, upon the retirement of the owner and his bookkeeper wife. Michelle was born in Jones County, MS and lives in Hattiesburg with her husband, Ron and their children. Michelle is an avid gardener and enjoys spending time with her family. She is a baseball mom, a karate mom and a Christian mom. She exudes her faith in everything she does and is an inspiration to everyone she meets.
Silas Myers has been with Vital Care Compounder since 2011 and keeps our facilities in tip top shape. He was born and raised in Bassfield, MS where he graduated from Bassfield High School and lives in Hattiesburg with his wife and children. He is a member of New Testament Baptist Church. He owns and operates his own lawn care business, Country Boy Country Cuts which allows him to devote time to maintaining our pharmacy.
Silas follows a very strict cleaning protocol for our non-sterile lab and keeps dispensing items stocked at 6 work stations. He has completed a program designed by Vital Care Compounder’s Director of Operations which follows USP guidelines for maintaining the clean room suite. He has received additional training on a company designed computer program where he logs his maintenance activities for the facility. He makes himself available to the pharmacy for special projects as needed.
Silas is a valued member of the Vital Care Compounder team. In his limited spare time, he enjoys fishing and cooking for his family.
Robert Donnell, R.Ph. entered retail pharmacy at Love Drug Company in Hattiesburg in 1968 following graduation from the University Of Mississippi School Of Pharmacy in 1967 which he later purchased. He purchased his second independent pharmacy, Medi-$av Discount Drugs in 1979 and the third, Pharmacy Plus in 1995. In 1998, following the sale of those three pharmacies, he opened Vital Care Compounder as a compounding only pharmacy to pursue his passion for helping people. In 2013, he began his transition out of the pharmacy by selling a portion of Vital Care Compounder to someone who could carry on his legacy.
Robert was born in New Orleans, LA and attended school in Pelahatchie, MS. He is a charter member of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Hattiesburg and has served the community in various civic organizations. For many years, he was very active in the Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association. He and his wife Linda are members of Temple Baptist Church where they are very active in mission work.
Over his impressive 45 + year career in pharmacy, Robert attended more than 30 multi-part seminars focusing on bio-identical hormones, specialty compounding, sterile compounding, inhalation therapy and endocrinology among other aspects of pharmacy compounding and patient care. Robert spent many years assisting physicians and other health care professionals in their quest for better health care for the Pine Belt.
His retirement in 2014 was bittersweet, but he remains fulfilled by spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing and gardening, not to mention the regular calls from the pharmacy staff requesting his expert educated opinion on pharmacy and business related topics.
